Members of the American Iris Society in the six New England States are automatically members of
Region 1. Regional events are held twice a year and members receive the Region 1 Bulletin.
Those outside of Region 1 are also welcome to join in the fun and can subscribe to the Region 1
Bulletin. The spring/summer Region 1 event usually is a tour of iris gardens
in bloom, often with an educational session about iris or gardening. The fall event is indoors with
the Region's annual meeting followed by lively auction of iris knicknacks, books and plants and
an educational lecture by a nationally known
irisarian. The members of Region 1 include people new to irises, others who have grown
irises for years and those who breed iris. Everyone is welcome and our purpose is to share our
love of irises and help each other in growing them.
